Turmeric For Pets Vs. Curcumin For Pets - What's The Difference?
Are turmeric and curcumin the same? Not really. Curcumin is the prized compound found in turmeric. Curcumin is a powerful antioxidant that reduces inflammation and improves mobility. According to the National Cancer Institute, it is important to consider that certain materials (such as turmeric, turmeric extracts, curcuminoid-enriched materials) often referred to as curcumin, are not identical to the pure, single-chemical entity. Adding a little turmeric spice powder to a pet's diet will not have the same effect as using a curcumin supplement. A half teaspoon of turmeric (a lot to give to a pet due to the strong smell and flavor) contains about 15 mg of curcumin vs one softgel of Ask Ariel's K9 CurcuMagic that contains 325 mg.

- Curcumin Relieves Arthritis Pain & Improves Mobility
Curcumin is an effective natural anti-inflammatory for dogs. Curcumin helps pets that are slowing down, having difficulty getting up or showing signs of stiffness or joint pain. What is a natural anti-inflammatory for dogs and cats?
Curcuma longa (turmeric) contains over two dozen anti-inflammatory compounds that reduce inflammation and relieve the pain and stiffness associated with arthritis. In human research studies, turmeric supplements that contain at least 20% curcuminoids are just as effective as ibuprofen. Look for a natural anti-inflammatory supplement that contains concentrated and bioavailable curcuminoids for maximum absorption and effectiveness.
What is golden paste for dogs and cats?
Golden paste is commonly used for dogs and cats to help alleviate pain and inflammation. Golden paste is made from turmeric and coconut oil. Are turmeric and curcumin the same?

What is the best way to give curcumin to my dog or cat?
Curcumin is not well absorbed by the digestive tract so administering it with a meal can improve absorption. Curcumin is fat soluble, so it absorbs better if your pet ingests it along with fats such as coconut oil or Omega 3 fatty acids. Also, when choosing a curcumin supplement for your dog or cat, look for one that contains an emulsifier such as sunflower lecithin to improve absorption. This increases the effectiveness for your pet and provides you with the maximum value for your purchase.
